1950s JAEGER LECOULTRE MEMOVOX
This is a late 1950s Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox (wrist alarm) watch under reference E853. JLC introduced the world's first wrist alarm "automatic" watch in 1956. Like this timepiece, the bumper automatic alarm movement is a JLC calibre K815. The movement has been professionally serviced and the alarm is in good working order (of course, the alarm is within a couple of minutes off and lasts for about 15 seconds). The stainless steel measures 37mm across, excluding the crown, by 45.5mm from lug to lug. This is considered a jumbo-size model. The case back does show some minor dents, but they do not affect the watch in any matter. Original unsigned crowns, indicating this is an early example of this reference (so possibly from 1956/57). Brand new acrylic crystal. Beautiful factory original finish dial in well-aged condition. It will come with a new 18mm genuine leather strap. The wrist size in the photos is 6 inches.
